Dr. Lara is oncology nurse and health care executive with almost 40 years of healthcare experience in not only clinical settings, but also in the information technology (IT) industry. In my clinical world, she has successfully implemented programs in the areas of bone marrow transplant, pain management, oncology nursing education, radiation oncology, case management, patient education, and caregiver support. In her healthcare IT world, she has been responsible for the development and market launch of software to support clinicians in the areas of critical care, cardiology, oncology, medicine, and the operating room. Dr. Lara recently retired as the Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, Interim Chief Nurse Officer, and Risk Manager at a community hospital. Her research has focused on the quality of life of cancer patients, competency management, and leadership development. Her bachelor and master’s degrees in nursing are from the University of Delaware and her doctoral degree in Innovation and Leadership is from Wilmington University. Dr. Lara is a licensed RN in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, and Minnesota.
