Dr. Anna Liza D. Villena, PhD, FNP, BC, RN

Dr. Villena has 30 years of nursing experience. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Nursing. She is a board certified (American Nurses Credentialing Center) family nurse practitioner. In addition to her clinical work, she has taught at the Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor. Presently, Dr. Villena serves as a Senior Contributing Faculty at the School of Nursing. She currently teaches in the Nurse Practitioner Program.

Beyond her clinical work and teaching, she has conducted research focusing on providing integrated medical and behavioral care for individuals with co-occurring disorders. Specifically, she has worked on building innovative models aimed at integrating primary care into a community mental health agency--all with the goal to improve health outcomes. She has published and presented papers both at national and international conferences on co-occurring disorders.
