Dr. Beckett has served on the early childhood faculty at Walden University since 2005, and has worked with students in Ph.D., Ed.S., Ed.D., and MsEd programs. From 2006-2012, she served as a specialization coordinator for the Early Childhood Specialization. For a portion of that period she also served as coordinator of Global and Comparative Education, and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Prior to her employment at Walden, she was on the early childhood faculty at the University of Texas at San Antonio and the Language and Literacy and Multilingual Studies faculties at Texas Tech University. She also served as a visiting professor at the University of the Americas (La Universidad de las Americas) in Puebla, Mexico, teaching courses in constructivism. She has also worked at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington D.C. and the Texas Education Agency, where she worked with early childhood policy. Her research interests include multilingual aspects of early childhood development and resilience in early childhood.
