Alfred Porter

Alfred Porter was born and raised in Cuthbert, Georgia. Alfred is the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Porter. Alfred has a younger brother, Eric Bernard Porter. Dr. Porter attended the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelors Degree in Biology. He received his Masters Degree in Biology Education from Columbus State University. He received his Doctorial Degree from Argosy University in Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Porte taught for nine years. Currently, Dr. Porter has taught the following courses: Advanced Placement Biology, Microbiology, and Genetics, Physical Science and Environmental Science. Currently, Dr. Porter work as an instructional mentor. As an instructional mentor, Dr. Porter assist novice teachers in reflecting on and analyzing their practices by reviewing student work to inform instruction for student achievement. Also, Dr. Porter provides opportunities for observation of exemplary practice, model lessons, and confers with beginning teachers in utilizing the appropriate teaching methodologies through techniques such as team teaching, demonstrations, simulations, and consultations. Prior to entering the teaching profession Dr. Porter worked as a research assistant at Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. Dr. Porter is a member of the National Science Teacher Association, the Georgia Teacher Association, the Biology Teacher Association, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
