Riley Mission LogoThe Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership has developed a conceptual framework that guides our teaching programs and outlines our philosophy in preparing educators to work effectively in preK–12 schools. It provides the foundation for all of our programs in education.

In accordance with our overall mission, Walden’s theme for this framework is Leadership and Social Change Through Teaching and Lifelong Learning.

Its components include:

  • Teaching and Lifelong Learning
  • Research with Application
  • Reflective and Analytic Thought
  • Leadership
  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Diversity
  • Social Change

Walden University has also developed three additional outcomes that are drawn directly from the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) propositions:

  • Diversity
  • Professional Dispositions
  • Technology

The conceptual framework is knowledge-based, articulated, shared, coherent, consistent with the school and our institutional mission, and continuously evaluated.
