Dr. Tyre is currently the assistant vice chancellor for student affairs for Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). She is responsible for the university’s Counseling Center, Center for Disability Services, Career Development Center, campus sustainability programming, and sustainability initiatives. She holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Leadership from Auburn University, where her dissertation research explored the experiences and perceptions of African American gay and lesbian identity development in a historically black college environment. She has served on the board of Mental Health America and is past president of the Alabama College Counseling Association. She was selected as the 2008 Alabama Counseling Association Emerging Leader and the 2006 Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Emerging Leader, is a member of the Junior League, and is a graduate of Emerge Montgomery and the AUM Leadership Team.
