Background

Dr. Tyler has been a licensed professional counselor since 1996 and a counselor educator since 2002. Since 2003, he has worked as a counselor in a university counseling center. He has been a contributing faculty member with the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Walden since 2006. He works to train mental health counselors to increase their understanding of themselves while simultaneously presenting and introducing techniques, skills, and practices that they will employ as future counselors. He is an intentional advocate for LGBT issues and identity development, as well as for continued understanding of multiculturalism in the profession. In his career, he has worked in hospital settings, in community mental health, in private practice, and with court-ordered juvenile offenders.
