Multicultural issues in counseling; academic achievement and self-concept of ethnic minorities in grades K–12; career decision-making
Dr. Bounds is a contributing faculty member in the PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision program. She has been a counselor educator since 2013. Prior to that, she had a broad range of counseling and teaching experiences that spanned 9 years, providing community and school-based counseling, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy with at-risk youth in urban areas, and restorative practice coaching in Chicago Public Schools (which she continues to do today). Dr. Bounds is a national certified counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors and a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois. She holds professional memberships in counseling organizations including the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. She has presented at more than 20 national, regional, state, and local professional conferences and has published two book chapters in counseling textbooks, with one book chapter and journal article in press for scholarly publication.
