The use of mind-body Asian psychotherapies to treat signs and symptoms associated with attention issues, traumatic events, and relationship concerns
Dr. Barker is director of the State Office of Victim Assistance in the South Carolina Department of Administration. His state government experience includes various advocacy and management positions in the administrations of four governors. Prior to his career in government, Dr. Barker served in the United States Army as an intelligence analyst, mental health counselor, and program manager. He is a certified civil and family court mediator in South Carolina. He is also a licensed professional counselor and supervisor, specializing in the use of mind-body psychotherapies to treat a variety of clinical and behavioral issues. Additionally, Dr. Barker teaches clinical counseling courses at Walden. He believes teaching helps him stay abreast of the current evidence-based treatment models used in counseling and that it also gives him a constant refresher in the coursework of graduate school. This assists him immensely in serving clients in his private practice.
