Dr. Levingston is a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist-supervisor. She has worked in the mental health field with community agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private practices, specializing in counseling children, adolescents, and their families. As a military spouse, she is also actively involved in the military community as a board member for the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation, an assistant research analyst with Blue Star Families, and a clinical care specialist with Navy Fleet and Family Services. Her work includes working to build military-conscious schools, in which staff is prepared to effectively respond to the unique learning and social-emotional needs of military-connected children. In April 2012, Dr. Jill Biden visited one of the local public schools to highlight the ongoing collaboration to serve military children as a best practice in the Joining Forces initiative. Dr. Levingston became a core faculty member in Walden’s School of Counseling in 2014.
