Research Interests

Narrative family therapy applications, complicated grief reactions in families who have had a child diagnosed with cancer, resiliency in female cancer survivors, families with one or more members who struggle with chronic pain

Background

Dr. Wirick engages in research related to family therapy interventions with cancer survivors, and those who have been recently diagnosed with cancer. She serves on many committees on the New Jersey Counseling Association and helps this state-level organization with annual conference planning and new student recruitment. She is also involved in lobbying New Jersey legislators to expand job opportunities for professional counselors in both hospital and hospice settings. Dr. Wirick became a core faculty member in Walden’s MS in Marriage, Child, and Family Counseling program in 2012.
