Background

Dr. Briggs is a counselor educator, writer, and speaker. She has been published on issues including mentorship, grief therapy, bibliotherapy, women’s issues, and addiction. She co-created a travel study course to Guatemala via Winona State University to explore the helping professions in developing countries. She is the coauthor of Women, Girls, and Addiction, one of the few texts to specifically address the treatment needs of female clients. She was the recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Practitioner Award from the Mu Tau Beta chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. Dr. Briggs is a TEDx speaker and has presented nationally and internationally on counseling and counselor education. She has taught for Walden University since 2010.
