BackgroundDr. Gilea is a counselor educator, a national certified counselor, an Ohio licensed professional clinical counselor with a Supervision Designation, and a chemical dependency counselor assistant in Ohio. She is a core faculty member in Walden’s MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Dr. Gilea has extensive experience in the behavioral health profession, including the treatment of mental illness, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. She has provided direct service, supervision, and management in a variety of clinical settings, including community-based behavioral health treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, college counseling centers, mental health group homes, jails, and homeless shelters. Dr. Gilea has held several leadership positions, including clinical director of a large nonprofit behavioral health organization, department director, and clinical supervisor. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters and regularly presents at conferences, symposiums, and workshops. Dr. Gilea is an active member of national, state, and local counseling organizations and committees, as well as local community foundations and programs.
