Dr. Smith is a registered play therapist-supervisor, a certified rehabilitation counselor, and a certified EMDR therapist endorsed and trained by the EMDR International Association. She is a part of the Wroxton International Play Therapy Study Group, comprising elite hand-selected play therapists from around the world. Dr. Smith is also an active researcher for the Association for Play Therapy (APT) as a member of its Mining Committee. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association and the Arizona branch of the APT. She is currently in private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she treats children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced traumatic events. Dr. Smith became a contributing faculty member at Walden in 2010 in the MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
