Dr. Young serves Walden in the roles of faculty supervisor and student support coordinator as well as chapter faculty advisor for the Omega Zeta chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. Other professional accomplishments include serving as chair of the American Counseling Association Western Region (2014–2016), where she represented professional counselors who live and practice in the western U.S. and the Philippines. In addition, she has served as president for other associations such as the Colorado Counseling Association and the Chi Sigma Iota chapter at the university she was attending for her graduate program. Dr. Young is a licensed professional counselor as well as a national certified counselor and maintains a small private practice providing support to individuals, couples, and families. Her background is rich in serving a variety of client issues, including marital challenges, family disputes and crises, addictions, depression, and grief and loss. Dr. Young has a strong passion for the counseling profession and is very active in professional counseling associations. She attends and presents at state, regional, and national counseling associations every year, often co-presenting with colleagues and students. Dr. Young joined the team at Walden in 2013.
