Dr. Walter McCollum ’04, a PhD in Management graduate and dean of student affairs, recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a primary school in Haiti that has been funded entirely by his Walter McCollum Education Foundation in partnership with buildOn. buildOn’s global school construction projects provide rural communities in developing nations with access to clean, safe learning environments.

Dr. Richard Pitts ’10, a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management) graduate, gave the commencement address at Western University of Health Sciences. His address was titled “The Real Work Starts Now.” Dr. Pitts is a vice president and senior medical director at St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare in Orange County, California.

Jason Newcomer ’13, a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) graduate, published “Elements of an Effective Squadron: An Air Force Organizational Study” in Air and Space Power Journal. He was also promoted to lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force and associate professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Brandy McNeil ’11, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate and DBA student, has been promoted to associate director of tech education at the New York Public Library. McNeil was previously the manager of tech education.

Dr. James Edward Wilkinson ’17, a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) graduate, has been selected to serve as a member of the board of trustees of the University of the Ozarks, a liberal arts college established in 1834, located in Clarksville, Arkansas. He and his wife have also established an endowed scholarship for students with demonstrated need. Dr. Wilkinson is the president of Farmers Bank.

Dr. Shamir Andrew Ally ’94, a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management) graduate, is the recipient of an award for Outstanding Service in the Diaspora from the prime minister of Guyana. He has also been appointed to the role of deputy chairman of the Board of Directors of the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest).

Patricia (Patti) Hart Timm ’15, a PhD in Management graduate with a specialization in Accounting, recently received a 2015 Excellence in Lean Accounting Award from the nonprofit Lean Enterprise Institute. Timm received the award for her dissertation, “Perceptions of Value-Stream Costing and the Effect on Lean-Accounting Implementation.” She is an accounting professor and interim academic dean at Northwood University in Michigan.

Jasmine Lynch ’14, ’11, an MS in Higher Education and MS in Nonprofit Management and Leadership graduate, has joined Salem Community College in New Jersey as director of retention and admissions.

Dr. Douglas Merriman ’15, a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management) graduate, was recently appointed the city administrator for Oak Harbor, Washington. He previously served as the city’s finance director.

Joan M. Soltis ’10, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate, was recently recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Higher Education. Soltis is the OTA site coordinator with Brown Mackie College in Miramar, Florida.

Dr. Patrick Ford ’03, a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management) graduate, has been appointed grant manager for Big Bend Community College’s new drone technology program, which is slated for a fall 2016 launch. The program will train drone technicians and pilots with a focus on agricultural applications of drone technology.

Dr. Beth M. Castiglia ’05, a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management) graduate, has been appointed dean at the Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business.
