A retired U.S. Marine Corps captain, he participated in a number of overseas tours including Jordan, where he served in embassy security with the U.S. Department of State, and Vietnam. He also completed assignments in air and ground operations and in intelligence at the national and tactical levels, including a graduate work-study program with the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research. His academic research focused on providing U.S. public safety assistance as part of U.S. foreign policy and the transfer of technology to developing countries. He has managed a corporate government relations program, directed a university campus, spent 12 years in industry and academe providing hi-tech and management courses and programs internationally, and was technology transfer adviser to the Government of Tunisia.
