Background

Since joining Walden University in 1996, Dr. Kelsey has served in a variety of roles which include core contributing faculty member and former associate dean of the School of Public Policy and Administration. He is also principal consultant of Gary Kelsey and Associates. During the past 17 years, he has provided assistance and training to more than 350 nonprofit, philanthropic, education and government organizations. Since 1991, he has been a faculty member at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and is currently program director of Saint Mary’s University—Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Development program. He has taught courses in fundraising, board development, and strategic planning for the Center on Nonprofit Excellence at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. Dr. Kelsey has 33 years of experience within the nonprofit, government, and education sectors. Previous positions held include community organizer, grants manager, administrator, senior planner, and executive director.
