Background
Dr. Edman was born in St. Paul, Minn., where he still resides. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame and taught senior high school English for several years. He subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Minnesota. His career has been devoted to applied research and development in industrial settings, and he has held executive management positions in several large technology firms.
