As the clinical information systems manager for Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Dr. Stefan led clinical analysts, project managers, and trainers in the implementation of electronic health records. Prior to joining Rush, Dr. Stefan held various roles at Northshore University Healthcare in Evanston, Ill., including senior director of patient access, quality improvement, and community wellness. Dr. Stefan’s doctoral capstone project, Evaluation of Clinical Informatics at an Academic Medical Center, evaluated clinical metrics following implementation of the electronic health record. A journal article, “Evaluation of Clinical Metrics: Medication Reconciliation, Problem List, and Discharge Instructions,” was published in the fall 2010 issue of Journal of Healthcare Information Management. Dr. Stefan joined Walden’s faculty in 2010 and teaches courses in nursing informatics. Since 2011, Dr. Stefan has served as Nursing Informatics specialization coordinator. She is ANCC board certified in Nursing Informatics.
