Dr. Tilbury has been with the Walden nursing program since its initial development in 2004. Currently, as a contributing member of the faculty, she primarily teaches leadership and management specialization courses. She previously served as director for the nursing administration program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where she held the rank of associate professor. She actively participated in the initial development of the Magnet recognition program; was its first director; and surveyed with the program for 18 years. She has 10 years of experience as a chief nursing officer in community and tertiary teaching hospitals and currently serves as the first registered nurse appointed to the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore board of directors. In 2010, she received the Walden Extraordinary Faculty Award for the College of Health Sciences.
