Dr. Bolden has 29 years of experience as a nurse. She has worked in roles such as director of nursing, nursing research manager, and psychiatric clinical specialist and is certified as a clinical specialist in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing by ANCC. She is a recipient of a Sigma Theta Tau International scholarship and Ethnic Minority Predoctoral fellowship, and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration. She has published several manuscripts as a primary and secondary author in the Journal of Nursing Care Quality, American Journal of Nursing, the Journal of Advanced Nursing, Clinical Nursing Research, Issues in Mental Health Nursing, and Archives in Psychiatric Nursing. She has presented at local and national conferences. She joined Walden as a contributing faculty member in 2008 and teaches graduate nursing courses.
