Community-based participatory research; vulnerable populations; diabetes and heart disease prevention
Dr. Long is a registered nurse in Georgia and has taught undergraduate nursing courses for more than 10 years. More recently, she began teaching quantitative methods of scholarly inquiry for doctoral-level students. Dr. Long works as a researcher in community-based settings and was honored by Western Michigan University, the Georgia Association of Nursing Educators and Kennesaw State University for her work and research in the community. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Georgia Association of Nurse Educators, the Hispanic Health Coalition, and the Georgia Diabetes Coalition. She has a number of publications and presentations. Dr. Long joined Walden in May 2010 as a contributing faculty member in the School of Nursing.
