Background
Dr. Parker is a practicing informatics nurse specialist and consultant. She is a frequent contributor to the growing body of knowledge in nursing informatics as both an author and speaker in the United States and internationally. She is an active member of the ANIA-CARING nursing informatics organization and in the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society as well as a member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the Alliance for Nursing Informatics. She has published articles in several journals including the Journal of Healthcare Information Management, Nursing Case Management, the Journal of Nursing Administration, and Computers, Informatics, Nursing. She is a contributor to Essentials of E-learning for Nurse Educators and Nursing Today: Transition and Trends. She joined Walden’s faculty first in 2005 and then returned in 2009 to teach courses in the nursing informatics specialization.
