Dr. Valdez has been a registered nurse since 1992 and has served in a variety of emergency nursing and administrative nursing roles. She specializes in the transport of critically ill patients. While practicing as an emergency nurse she developed a passion for injury prevention and the reduction of serious injury in at-risk populations. For the past several years Dr. Valdez has served as the co-editor of the Injury Prevention section of the Journal of Emergency Nursing. She has published several articles on emergency nursing education and injury prevention. Dr. Valdez joined Walden’s faculty in 2011, teaching courses in the BSN and MSN programs. She continues to teach traditional prelicensure courses in her community and remains employed as a registered nurse in a local hospital.
