Dr. Valdez has been a registered nurse since 1992 and has served in a variety of emergency nursing and nursing leadership roles. She specializes in the care and transport of critically ill patients. While practicing as an emergency nurse she developed a passion for injury prevention and the reduction of serious injury in at-risk populations. Dr. Valdez is the editor of the Injury Prevention section of the Journal of Emergency Nursing. She has published several articles on emergency nursing education and injury prevention. Dr. Valdez has been a Walden faculty member since 2010 and teaches core and nursing education courses. She is nationally certified in emergency nursing, flight nursing, and as a nurse educator.
