Background

Dr. Scharff was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army after he graduated from The Citadel with a degree in accounting. He was stationed in Ansbach, Germany (1st Armor Division), Fort Bragg, N.C. (82d Airborne Division), Atlanta, Ga. (Forces Command), and Fort Campbell, Ky. (160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment [Airborne]). During his 11 years in the military, he was selected to go to graduate school at Syracuse University. After leaving the military, he took a job with MCI in Atlanta, Ga., where he served in several management positions in finance. He left MCI in 2005 to take a full-time teaching position at Limestone College, where he is currently the chair of the business department. In addition, he is an adjunct faculty member at Walden in the D.B.A. program. He has spoken at several Academy of Management conferences in ethics, mentoring, and leadership.
