Women’s and college students’ health, self-esteem issues, exercise and fitness, cancer prevention and control

Background

Dr. Armstrong has spent seven years at Centenary College where she has served as department chair and assistant professor of the Health and Exercise Science Department, the Broyles Research Chair, and senior woman administrator of the Athletics Department. She is a certified health and physical educator and a certified National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) coach. She also directs children’s fitness programs in the community and worked as a clinical research associate in a health science center for five years. She has published articles in several journals, including the Journal of American College Health and Gastroenterology Nursing and presents regularly on community-based and health- and fitness-related research projects. Dr. Armstrong was the recipient of the American Alliance for Health, P.E., Recreation and Dance’s (AAHPERD’s) Southern District 2010 Young Professional Leadership Award. She joined Walden’s faculty in 2010, teaching courses in the B.S. in Health Studies program.
