Chronic disease prevention; mental health and resiliency in minority populations
Dr. Mays has a diverse background in healthcare, healthcare administration, and public health. She is a seasoned healthcare professional with experience in launching community-based chronic disease prevention programs in minority communities, primarily in South Texas. Her experience in public health and healthcare administration includes private as well as public entities, community-based organizations, and departments of public health. Dr. Mays has more than 20 years of experience in teaching in both traditional and online class environments. She joined Walden University in 2011, teaching courses in the B.S. in Healthcare Management program. She continues to work with the Puerto Rico Clinical and Translational Research Consortium, counseling young and early-stage investigators in research design and grant development.
