Background

Dr. Kato is an associated tenured professor of health science at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) and has worked in higher education for 10 years. Professionally, she has experience as a nutrition specialist for outreach and extension, assistant fitness director for campus recreation, and hospital fitness coordinator. Dr. Kato is active in several health and exercise organizations by serving on state and national committees and presenting at local, state, national, and international conferences. In 2011, she was awarded the Citation of Merit for Outstanding Achievement and Meritorious Service from the College of Education at the University of Missouri. She was also awarded the 2010 Teacher of the Year for Health from the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. In addition, she was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award for the College of Education at SFASU in 2009. She joined Walden’s faculty in 2011 and teaches courses in health science.
