Dr. Melancon has a unique background combining both health management and health education. Before entering higher education and the health sciences, he held several management positions in “corporate America.” He earned a Ph.D. in Health Studies in 2008 from Texas Woman’s University and has since been active in establishing his niche in preparing students for careers in health management. Dr. Melancon is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and is an active member of professional health organizations, such as the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE), at the state and national level. He has published peer-reviewed articles and has presented his research on chronic diseases and effective teaching modalities at state and national conferences.
