After serving in the military, Dr. Rohrer worked in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a quality assurance coordinator and planner. He became a tenured professor at the University of Iowa in health administration and then in preventive medicine. After starting a small department of health services research at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, he became director of research in family medicine in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Rohrer has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and the book Planning for Community-Oriented Health Systems (American Public Health Association, 1999). Dr. Rohrer teaches program evaluation to Master of Public Health students and guides doctoral students through their dissertations.
