Background
Dr. Thompson has served as the director of education and policy development for the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence. In this position, she was a registered lobbyist and conducted numerous studies on the impact of firearm policy on injury prevention. Dr. Thompson is a member of several professional organizations including Eta Sigma Gamma, where she is national president-elect and the guest editor for the
Monograph of Eta Sigma Gamma; American School Health Association, American Public Health Association; the Society for Public Health Education; and the American Health Education Association. Her research has been published in such journals as the
American Journal of Preventive Medicine, the
Journal of School Health, and
American Journal of Health Education.
