Dr. Shaffer is an assistant professor with almost 20 years of clinical experience. She has worked as a substance abuse counselor, a clinical director of a residential children’s facility, a counselor in a university counseling center, and a supervisor for a clinical mental health team working with clients with psychotic disorders. Dr. Shaffer is an assistant professor at Western Kentucky University. She volunteers as a certified disaster mental health counselor with the Red Cross and has worked with Hurricane Katrina and Tropical Storm Allison victims.
