Background
As well as being a faculty member at Walden, Dr. Kempner is a professor of education and international studies and coordinator of the educational administration program at Southern Oregon University (SOU). He is the former dean of the School of Social Sciences at SOU and was previously a faculty member and coordinator of the doctoral program in educational policy and management at the University of Oregon. His scholarly work focuses on the role higher education plays in cultural, social, and economic development. His recent publications include research on Brazil, Malaysia, Japan, and Mexico. He is senior editor of the forthcoming book Universities and the Public Sphere: Knowledge Creation and State Building in the Era of Globalization (Routledge).
