Dr. Deris works with Bloomington Public Schools in Minnesota to pilot the district’s Response to Intervention (RTI) model, which develops different interventions for diverse populations. He has an M.Ed. in Special Education with a concentration in Mild and Moderate Disabilities and a Ph.D. in Special Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Special Education and Autism. He is trained in Stanley Greenspan’s Floortime method, applied behavior analysis, treatment and education of autistic and related communication-handicapped children (TEACCH), and the affect-based language curriculum. He has mentored student and practicum teachers and evaluated early childhood special education programs for the State Department of Louisiana.
