Instructional Delivery Models Courses Students access courses through their myWalden page. Because the Walden online learning environment is asynchronous, students can contribute to course discussions at various times within a specified period. The flow of online dialogue is preserved in a coherent format that allows students to retrace their classmates’ conversation as it unfolds.
Courses emphasize a praxis orientation requiring students to integrate theory and research with problems of professional practice. Instructors prepare syllabi specifying weekly discussion topics, required readings, and individual and group assignments. Instructors commonly require a final course project, research paper, portfolio assignment, or reflective essay.
Students are advised that associate deans and their designees have read-only access to all online course materials and discussions within their respective programs. This access is automatically granted at the beginning of each term.
Instructional ModesCourses are offered via one of four instructional modes: online course, online with in-person course, in-person course, and tutorial. All modes require proficiency using email and other electronic communication tools. |
