M.S. in Psychology

The M.S. in Psychology provides students with pre-doctoral training—a background in the development and application of psychological theories, basic scientific methods, and principles of psychological science. The General Program prepares students to apply theories to practice and to conceptualize social science research. The specialization in Organizational Psychology and Development prepares students to gain an understanding of attitudes and behaviors that enhance individual and organizational effectiveness, and the students work in organizations, corporations, and human resource and personnel departments.

M.S. in Psychology students will be able to

  • apply psychological knowledge and research to real-world situations, such as in educational, organizational, and mental health settings;
  • demonstrate critical thinking through analysis and evaluation of psychological theories and research;
  • conduct basic or applied research;
  • progress to further graduate study at the certificate or doctoral level;* and
  • employ multicultural and global perspectives in understanding psychological theory, research, and practice.

* Note that the M.S. in Psychology program does not prepare students for professional licensure.
