Dr. Tony Leisner ’05, who earned a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, chairs WorkNet Pinellas’s One-Stop Consortium. The consortium administers a Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program, which was honored with the 2005 Employ Florida Excellence Award for Services to Targeted Populations presented by Workforce Florida, Inc. Since 1996, the Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program has served over 8,600 non-custodial parents and positively impacted the lives of nearly 23,000 children in three Florida counties.

 

Dr. David F. Townson ’04, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change, gave a presentation on portfolio management at the Challenges in Portfolio Management conference in Brussels, Belgium.

 

Dr. Charles Mbonu ’03, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, was appointed an associate professor of information systems management at the University of Maryland University College.

 

Dr. Mary Fischer-McKee ’02, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management, was named chief compliance officer for Star HRG, a division of The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company. Fischer-McKee is also a senior vice president of administration.

 

Dr. David G. Boyd ’00, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, had a chapter in Issues in IT: A Reader for the Busy Police Chief Executive, published by the Police Executive Research Forum. Boyd is the deputy director of system engineering and development and director of the Office for Interoperability and Compatibility in the Science and Technology Directorate of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

 

Dr. Donald McLellan ’98, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, retired after 30 years in the Oakland County (Detroit) Sheriff ’s Office. He was the first deputy in the 182-year history of the department to earn a doctorate. He plans to consult and teach at the college level.

 

Dr. Mark Lewandowski ’95, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management, became dean of the School of Business at Oral Roberts University, where he had taught communication.

 

Dr. John Bizzack ’93, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences in the General Program, was appointed by the governor of Kentucky to the Board of Regents of Eastern Kentucky University.

 

Dr. Richard Leonard ’93, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management, had a textbook, The Administrative Side of Coaching, published through West Virginia University’s Fitness Information Technology division. Leonard is a professor at Flagler College-Tallahassee, in Florida.

 

Dr. Terry A. O’Connor ’90, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management, was appointed college campus chair, University of Phoenix West Michigan campuses, for the John G. Sperling Graduate School of Business. He will monitor the curriculum as well as the training and coaching of graduate faculty.
