General Program

Create your own learning experience to help broaden your understanding of both political science and public administration through the General Program. You have the flexibility to design a program that may include social entrepreneurship and social justice or leadership and communication. Explore the topics that interest you most and closely match your personal and professional goals. The program is completed by choosing any five courses from among the Political Science and Public Administration degree program’s concentration courses.

Degree Completion Requirements

  • 181 total quarter credits
    • General education courses (46 cr.)*
    • Core courses (36 cr.)
    • Concentration Courses (25 cr.)
    • Elective courses (70 cr.)
    • Capstone course (5 cr.)

Students may be eligible to transfer up to 135 credits. At least 45 credits must be completed at Walden.

Concentration Courses

Choose any five courses from B.S. in Political Science and Public Administration concentrations in Global Issues and Social Justice, Law and Legal Studies, Managing in the Public Environment, Public Service Through Civic Engagement, and Social Entrepreneurship. Three of the courses should be at the 3000 or 4000 level.

Elective Courses

Choose 14 courses from general education, B.S. in Political Science and Public Administration, or other Walden bachelor’s degree programs. At least 15 credits must be at the 3000–4000 level. Your elective credits should total 70 to meet your program requirements. You may also be eligible to transfer previous credit to meet your elective requirements. Note on Minors: Electives can also be used to complete a 6-course minor.
