Golden Key Honour Society logoMinneapolis—January 6, 2014—Nearly 2,500 students were the first inducted into the new Golden Key International Honour Society chapter at Walden University during an online chartering cermony via live webcast on Dec. 3. Golden Key is the world’s largest collegiate honor society. Membership into the society is by invitation only and applies to the top-performing undergraduate and graduate students in all fields of study, based solely on their academic achievements.

“We congratulate our Walden students on being recognized for their achievements through membership in this prestigious honor society. Golden Key’s mission of enabling its members to realize their potential through academics, leadership and service, aligns with Walden’s mission of providing students with the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so they can effect positive social change in their communities and around the world,” said Dr. Cynthia Baum, president of Walden.

In addition to the new student members, Dr. Baum and Dr. Eric Riedel, chief academic officer at Walden, were also inducted as honorary members of the society at the event. Honorary members are chosen by student members, chapter officers and chapter advisors for their individual accomplishments on campus or in the community, as well as their demonstrated success and support of academics, leadership and service.

“Golden Key is thrilled to add Walden University as a new chapter of our society. An online institution, Walden has students who are located all around the world, and we are excited to add this diverse group to our network of members,” said Brad Rainey, Golden Key executive director. “We are proud to offer this high-achieving group outstanding benefits that will motivate and prepare them for even greater success in the future.”

As an international honor society with more than 400 chapters at colleges and universities around the world, Golden Key is committed to a high standard of scholastic achievement and an ethos of integrity, innovation, respect, collaboration and diversity. Since it was established, Golden Key has recognized more than 12 million undergraduate and graduate students for their academic achievements.
