Tuesday, Aug 26, 2014
2:00 p.m. EST

Join our panel of experts as they discuss the latest trends in the nurse practitioner field and explain how the three nurse practitioner (NP) specializations in Walden’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program can prepare you for a career in this rewarding profession.

In the webinar, our panel of experts will cover:

  • What’s next for nurse practitioners?
Dr. Joan Stanley, director of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, will discuss the consensus model and implications for all Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).
  • Adult-Gerontology: More than treating seniors.
Dr. Laurie Kennedy-Malone, a professor at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and national expert on gerontology, will discuss the increasing importance of gerontology and how practitioners in this specialization can treat all populations over the age of 13—not just seniors.
  • Choosing the right NP specialization.
Dr. Linda Steele, director of Walden’s nurse practitioner program, will provide an overview of the three specializations: Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNPs), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP), and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She will also discuss why the two adult specializations are good alternatives to the FNP practitioner program, which has reached capacity.
