M.S. in Career Counseling
Career counseling professionals help others reach their potential by assessing their passions, values, and abilities in order to explore career options that may lead to a career change or professional growth. Embark on your own personal career development in Walden’s M.S. in Career Counseling program. This program builds on traditional counseling techniques that can enable you to support individuals in their career journey. Designed according to national standards, this is one of the only degrees of its kind available online. The program helps prepare you to work as a career counselor or career specialist in a variety of settings, including colleges, universities, nonprofits, business and government, and community agencies.
Through Walden’s M.S. in Career Counseling program, you can:
- Learn how to select and implement appropriate career interventions, techniques, and assessments.
- Study with well-respected educators and/or active professionals in the field who integrate their research and clinical experience into the classroom.
- Create an electronic portfolio of your work that can be shared with potential employers.

Note on Licensure
The M.S. in Career Counseling is not a licensure program and does not prepare an individual to become a licensed counseling professional.
Professional Accreditation
The M.S. in Career Counseling is not accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). However, the program was developed to be in line with national standards for career counseling education. Since Walden’s M.S. in Career Counseling is a new program, the university is not yet able to apply for CACREP accreditation. Students will be notified if the program becomes accredited in the future.
