Adolescent Literacy and Technology (Grades 6-12)

The value of technology in promoting adolescent literacy is one of the most exciting developments in the field of education today. In this specialization, you will develop cutting-edge expertise in the use of technology to motivate middle- and high-school students, enabling you to help them achieve higher degrees of literacy and success across all content areas. You will also learn how to help your students tap into the skills they use in their technology-rich lives outside of the classroom to improve their overall literacy.

Emphasis on Practical Strategies: 

  • Integrate writing strategies into the design of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to enhance student learning.
  • Design lessons using research-based instructional models to develop higher levels of student literacy.
  • Learn and use research-based strategies to help improve students’ critical reading skills.
