Special Education Endorsement Program in Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (K–12)

The shortage of teachers qualified to address emotional/behavioral disorders (EBD) continues to grow. This Minnesota state-approved* program provides the practical knowledge and understanding needed for you to best fulfill the multifaceted educational needs of this student population.

Incorporating the standards of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium, this program expands your teaching skills and helps you make a significant and positive impact on K–12 students with EBD.

Specifically, you will

  • Examine the characteristics of children and adolescents with EBD, in comparison with all learners.
  • Learn how to plan for the individual needs of students with exceptionalities—in particular those with EBD—and how to support their strengths.
  • Learn how to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that addresses the learning needs of students with EBD.
  • Participate in supervised fieldwork to prepare you for the specific challenges of special education teaching.
