Special Education Endorsement Program Academic Transition Points

As a student enrolled in Walden’s Minnesota state-approved* special education endorsement program, you may follow the steps outlined below to complete your studies.

Transition Point 1

Admission to Walden’s special education endorsement program

  • You can expect to complete the components of Transition Point 1 during the admission process.
  • You must have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution accredited by a regional professional/specialized or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and have a current teaching license from any state.

Transition Point 2

Approval for clinical practicum

  • You can expect to complete all components of Transition Point 2 by the end of your fifth course in the program.
  • You must have submitted your application for clinical practicum by the end of the first semester of the program.

Transition Point 3

Program completion

  • You can expect to complete all components of Transition Point 3 upon completing all program requirements.  
  • All program course requirements must be fully met, including a review of your Professional Portfolio and all its required elements.

*Not applicable in all states. Walden University’s endorsement programs are approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching for endorsement or add-on licensure in Minnesota. Candidates for this program must already hold a valid P–12 teaching license. Walden’s enrollment advisors can provide individuals with guidelines and other information about endorsements. It remains the individual’s responsibility to understand and comply with the out-of-state endorsement requirements for the state in which he or she seeks to be endorsed.
