Reading and Literacy Leadership

The Reading and Literacy Leadership specialization recognizes literacy as a driving force in effecting positive societal change. You’ll learn to lead literacy initiatives that engage educators within professional development programs and learning communities. You’ll be trained in strategies that can improve outcomes across the educational system—from classroom instruction to program design to policy development. This Ed.D. specialization explores sociopolitical, cultural, and economic influences on literacy; assessment and targeted instruction for diverse learners; changing definitions of literacy; best practices in literacy instruction; and program design and assessment.
