IDST 1001 Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies
As part of the Final Reflection in the course, explore the impact of this course by writing a letter to your former self—the person you were before you completed the course. Explain in the letter how the interdisciplinary critical-thinking and problem-solving skills you learned in the course can be applied personally, professionally, and globally.
IDST 1050 Identity in a Global Society
Through journal entries, plot the most important points of your identity and your life, and write a biography of yourself that connects your identity with culture. In a Final Project, assume the role of an instructor making a presentation about identity formation and global citizenship from an interdisciplinary perspective.
IDST 2050 Sustaining Quality of Life in the City
Work with other students to write an opinion/editorial (op-ed) newspaper article about an urban issue from a disciplinary perspective. Then individually write a letter to the editor in response to one of the op-ed pieces from a new disciplinary and community-based perspective. As your Final Project, assume the role of a director of a museum dedicated to the interdisciplinary nature of your city, and write a proposal to the city council explaining what specific disciplines deserve their own wings in the museum and why.
IDST 3050 Change and Population Movement Across Borders
Craft arguments about migration issues from multiple perspectives. For the Final Project, develop your research skills by seeking relevant theories and methods related to a research problem. In the Final Reflection, write a feature article that explains why the study of migration issues requires an interdisciplinary perspective.
